Healdsburg Museum and Historical Society Annual Appeal
2022 has been an epic year for the Healdsburg Museum and we have plans to make 2023 even better.
Your important donation to our Annual Appeal empowers us to meet the needs of our community and address the challenges of the future.
2022 Highlights
Engagement:
The Healdsburg Museum team hosted listening sessions led by international museum designers Kulapat Yantrasast and Brian Butterfield of Studio WHY. A diverse group of community members contributed ideas to make the Healdsburg Museum even better. Inspired by these sessions and sparked by a leadership grant from the Merritt, Pamela and Circe Sher family, we are launching new initiatives to elevate the Healdsburg Museum. Look for upgrades to the Museum gallery, exterior and grounds; history offerings beyond the Museum walls; and interactive learning experiences for youth.
Exhibits:
Our first collaborative exhibit with the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians was a tremendous success, with special thanks to guest curator Sherrie Smith-Ferri. Visitors traveled from across the country to see the world-class Pomo baskets on display and watch Native culture-bearers discuss and demonstrate local traditions. Look for the richly illustrated catalog of the exhibit to be published in 2023 and more collaborative exhibits ahead.
Events:
The History Lives Dinner and Pioneer award, honoring Jerry and Joanna Engelke, was the feel-good fundraiser event of the year. The Museum also hosted our first Roaring Twenties Prohibition Soirée. The sold-out crowd-pleaser was the talk of the town! Look for a lot more entertaining and educational events in 2023.
Thank you for your support for the new year.
