It is the Healdsburg Museum’s mission to engage our community because we believe local history has power and storytelling has impact. Our work received national attention this year. The American Association for State and Local History recognized the Healdsburg Museum with an “Excellence in History Leadership” award for our collaborative project with Sherrie Smith-Ferri and the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians. Our commitment to highlighting local stories and historically underrepresented groups continued with the opening of our current exhibition, “We Are Not Strangers Here: African American Histories in Rural California and Healdsburg.”
Our organization collects, protects and interprets documents, photographs and artifacts that embody the rich history of the Healdsburg area. We bring this history to life through exhibitions and interpretive programs, such as our popular History Talks in the Plaza. We are a team of two full-time staff and one part-time bookkeeper who enjoy support from a dedicated Board and a cadre of volunteers and supporters at-large.
Our 2024 goals include improvements to make our gallery space and grounds more welcoming and accessible; to elevate our storytelling with experiential design; and to expand our staffing to broaden our outreach efforts. These goals are impossible without your support. Though we operate in a City-owned building, we do not receive City funding. We rely on membership, donations, fundraising efforts, grants and interest from our Endowment Fund to continue the meaningful work of sharing local history.
We appreciate your financial contribution during this year’s Annual Appeal. Please contact us to discuss a bequest or donation of appreciated stock or other assets.
